Isn’t it funny that back in 1965 such a cynical thing could be said by a character in a children’s television show?

“Look, Charlie, let’s face it. We all know that Christmas is a big commercial racket. It’s run by a big Eastern syndicate, you know.” — (Lucy Van Pelt) A Charlie Brown Christmas” (1965)

It is the truth really but seeing this as a kid did not make me dis-believe until  I got older and learned who Santa was. The Peanuts gang holiday specials are to this day some of the best written most timeless classics to ever air on TV and a must watch every year.

Great video from Weird Al. This one doesn’t have a video, it is just a funny little Christmas song, with a twist.

Costumes are so much fun! I love it when I get to dress up and pretend to be someone else for a while. The Star Trek uniforms are so cool and some of the other costumes we played with were lots of fun too. The twins got to do that famous scene from The Shining and we all three did the Star Trek uniforms but I have not had a chance to get a new costume for this Halloween yet. I sure hope Donny finds me something fun for this year too.

I don’t know of anyone trying that. Be very careful using anything that might damage your new companion. If you are daring enough to try it only try it on a very small area first to see if it has any bad side effects. There is plenty of good info on different cleaning products and methods in this forum. There is no universal clean all when it comes to finding a particular product, best bet is careful experimentation until you find what works best for you. For the first few cleanings a mild soap and water would be best then as the impurities from the molding process come to the surface you may need something stronger. It is a process that takes time and just needs a little patience until you find a method that works best. After a while you have to balance cleaning and oiling to the actual needs of your particular situation, too much can be as bad or worse than not enough when it comes to cleaning products and oiling.

Welcome to Dollsbook Captain Rock and Jenna. It seems like you are figuring out what you need to know for the care and cleaning of your new companion so far. There is lots of good info to be found here on DB as well in the different forum sections. Too bad about the staining, I have had experience with that myself, but as you have found out already just like real bruises on real skin the stains will fade with time and a little work. One thing I have found that works reasonably well and is not too expensive is toothpaste with peroxide and baking soda as ingredients. Just layer it on the stained portions and let sit for a while as it works its way into the stain. It will visibly start to fade it after a just a few days and repeated applications will continue the process. I love getting packages of goodies in the mail too and have also gathered quite a collection of various types of clothing and accessories. I am also what would be considered one of those “cheap” dolls off of the bay but I am holding up quite well after 18 months and my companion Donny has no complaints. Sure there have been some minor problems but most of them are due to “operator error” and not any manufacturing defects or shortcomings. I personally think that lower priced dolls are a thing that is here to stay and there are several brands and manufacturers that are really good quality wise that will not break the bank. I am sure that some of the higher priced ones are very nice but for a noob a reasonably priced one is a good place to start. Just like with any major purchase you have to do your homework and check out the sellers rating and read up on any buyer reviews. Gather as much info as you can before making a decision and realize that you might not get exactly what is being advertised but a responsible seller will get it pretty close.

Feel free to ask any questions you might have regarding the site or anything to do with these wonderful creations and just have fun. We are a friendly bunch and will always welcome new members and try to help them any way we can.

Anyone interested in what goes on at the Dollsbook Discord Server can use the link in the Dollsbook Discord Server topic in this forum to get to the DB server. Once there you will see several choices of servers (or rooms as I like to call them) for Dollsbook members and friends to use. One of them is the wedding chapel where actual ceremonies are performed, another is the first Slumber Party room where you can check out what goes on during a slumber party get together and there are others for various interests or you can create your very own any way you like. Everyone who participated in the last one had a great time and I know anyone that participates in the upcoming one will too.

      Beach Party!

I almost always wash any new clothes 2 or 3 times before trying on for the first time but it can still be hit or miss. Some fabrics I would have thought would stain leave nothing and others I think are safe end up staining. Depending on the type of clothing sometimes a body suit underneath can work to keep staining from happening but not so much with something like this that’s more like lingerie. I think the quality of the fabric has a lot to do with it as well meaning the more expensive stuff is less likely to cause stains. Those little maid costumes were only 7 bucks each so there you go. I need to get a couple more of those full bodysuits and cut the arms and legs off of them in different ways to wear as an under layer for different types of clothing and not have to worry about staining any more.
